Yfke grew up playing sports with her two brothers and planning a future in sports medicine. That all changed one day in 1998, at a mall in Amsterdam where Yfke was approached by a scout for Elite Models. The 5'11" teenager had never thought of being a model, but agreed to enter the 1998 Elite Midel Look Contest. Winning not only Dutch nationals, but also the top prize at the international event in Nice, France. Yfke's career began shortly thereafter. Determined to start working immediately, Yfke balanced work and school successfully, dividing her time between New York, Paris and Amsterdam. After completing school Yfke became one of the world's top models.
