The former fitness model grew up in McCall, Idaho, and began participating in school activities such as cheerleading, dance, and track and field. During that time she became interested in modeling and sought to sign with an agency. But things took a turn for the worst when she was told that she was too heavy. She began losing weight, but after losing only a few pounds she became bulimic. She fought the eating disorder for four years, giving up her aspirations to be a model. Next, Wilson began working out and took an interest in fitness and nutrition, leading her to become a fitness model. After mere months she entered herself into the Ms. Galaxy competition in 1997 and placed in the top 20. The next year, the 5' 9" 36-25-36 Wilson entered the same competition and won. A move to Los Angeles would ensue so that she could pursue work as an actress. An agent helped her land a few small jobs, but it was ultimately wrestling that would become her biggest role.
