In 7/79 my good friend Jim invited me up to the Playboy Mansion in L.A. His sister, Sondra Theodore, (Miss July '76) was Hugh Hefners girlfriend at the time. Upon arrival we were greeted by Sondra Theodore, wearing a white bathrobe,(it was 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon) She and Hef had just woke up and she said they'd be down soon. Jim and I spent our time looking around the grounds. When we walked back into the main house we were greeted by approximately 50 people standing in the foyer, including Hef. He immediately introduced himself, (like he needed too!). I mentioned I was a stewardess for United Airlines. He told me that Playboy was going to do a pictorial on stewardesses, I could tell his mind was churning! Then he asked me if I'd be interested in posing for the stewardess issue. I politely informed him, "thank you, no". I really loved my job and Playboy was only offering $500.00 to pose for that particular pictorial. It wasn't worth losing my job. We all had a lovely evening dining on wonderful food and watching a first run movie. It was wonderful. Later that week, I got a call from Marilyn Grabowski, the west coast editor for Playboy. She informed me that Mr. Hefner really wanted me to do the cover of the Stewardess Issue and asked if I would be interested. THE COVER!! I was thrilled but told her I'd have to ask my supervisor if it was okay. It was!
