Seymour's rise to fame as a model began early on when she was only 14 years old. Modeling for local newspapers and department stores in her San Diego hometown, Stephanie was entered in the Elite Look of the Year contest and won first place. It was at this point that the soon to be top model decided to move to New York. In March of 1991, Stephanie got her first major break into modeling whilst in Florida shooting a photo spread for Play.boy magazine. Only four months after her first child was born, Stephanie, who was 22 at the time, graced the cover of Vogue UK. Stephanie soon became a regular catwalk woman, having modeled haute couture and prêt-a-porter clothing everywhere from Europe to the United States. In 1993, she appeared in Playboy's well-known Valentine's issue. By this time, Stephanie was already involved with notorious rock star Axl Rose of the heavy metal group Guns 'n' Roses.
