After high school she studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for three years before graduating in 1993. She then began hitting the auditions and was soon appearing in front of the footlights in such productions as Richard III, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Cherry Orchard and Midsummer Night's Dream. Although she had appeared on the BBC series Bergerac in 1991 and Absolutely Fabulous (Episode- Death) it wasn’t until 1994 she landed a role of any substance in the BBC Drama A Breed of Heroes. In 1996 she made her feature film debut opposite Anthony Hopkins in Surviving Picasso. Since then the work has been big and steady. She was in the acclaimed Dennis Potter mini-series Karaoke and appeared with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford in The Devil’s Own.
