She began her professional career at the age of nine in a commercial for a dollhouse. Since her auspicious debut, Kristy Swanson has moved on to work in several TV series, and has been featured in over 30 theatrical and made-for-TV movies. While she never really became a household name, her starring roles in The Chase (1994), Higher Learning and particularly Buffy have won her a cult following. Despite some highly revealing photo shoots (check out just how revealing in the November 2002 edition of Play..boy magazine), Swanson's pretty private when it comes to her personal life. We do know that she was highly ambitious as a child, as she quit regular schooling by the age of 13 in order to pursue her dream of making it as an actress in Hollywood. Her portrayal of Buffy in the original film version of the vampire-slaying Valley Girl demonstrated her light-hearted, comedic side, as well as her athletic prowess. She had to become proficient in the martial arts in order to pull off some of those fight scenes, at least the ones that didn't require a stunt double. She was given the opportunity to shed her image as the "ditzy blonde" with roles in Higher Learning and Silence (2002), though she's come full circle with her roles in Big Daddy and Dude, Where's My Car?
