A grand dame of German TV and big screen, brunette emoting factory Iris Berben has been flaunting the choice and juicy bits of her skin since her film debut in Detektive (1968). That black-and-white thriller featured Iris boobs-out in bed, sporting a look that almost 25 years later would come to be known as "grunge-rock princess." Employing a pout equal parts pretty and challenging, Iris exuded seriously sensual charisma that she has maintained for a career that spans 20 skin exposures. Although she would make no movies or TV shows in the English language, more than three decades after her initial unveiling, the Berben skin was still being served, displayed in Das Teufelsweib (2000). Iris is worth consulting a German-English dictionary to find. For what is perhaps Iris Berben's most bizarre as well as highly revealing role, track down Das Missverständniß (1985). In an arty, black-and-white setting, Iris's character sheds her nun's costume and strides forward fully nude in pointy-toed heels, bush flying like a freedom flag, hips slim and graceful.
