In May 1997, she entered the Elite Model Look Competition, and was hired to model in an advertisement for the cosmetics brand Make-Up Forever. She continued to model, but it was her first TV commercial for feminine products brand Whisper that got her noticed by Hong Kong's public. She soon had the opportunity to shoot a TV commercial for Cotton USA with Hong Kong pop star Daniel Chan. In 1999 she released an album called Hello Kitty (become friends). However, sales were mediocre and she has never been able to reach pop icon status.
