She moved to Spain with her father and brother in 1976 and started acting. Her first major role was in 'Ivan Zuleta' 's _Arrebato (1979)_ . She appeared in Pedro Almodóvar's debut feature Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón (1980) and went on playing in the director's Laberinto de pasiones (1982), Entre tinieblas (1983) and _¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?!! (1984)_ . In 1995 she moved back to Argentina and became a national star of TV, stage, and film. Besides appearing in the U.S.-coproduced thriller The Stranger (1987/I), she mostly starred in Argentine films including Lugar en el mundo, Un (1992), hit detective drama Cenizas del paraíso (1997) and family drama Martín (Hache) (1997), which gained her Spain's Best Actress award. She teamed up with Almodóvar again starring in Todo sobre mi madre (1999).
