When Candace Smith was a child, "The Price Is Right" was one of her favorite programs. "I used to watch it with my grandmother," she says of the long-running CBS game show. And like many little girls, Ms. Smith was also a big fan of beauty pageants. But there was a difference. Though she dreamed of being a beauty queen, "I never dreamed of being on 'The Price Is Right.' A few years later, the dream she had came true. She was crowned Miss Ohio USA 2003 and represented the Buckeye State in the Miss USA Pageant. But then the dream she never had also came true. On Jan. 30, 2004, Ms. Smith makes her debut as one of "Barker's Beauties," the young women who display the merchandise that the "Price Is Right" contestants vie for. Each of the Beauties is like a model, a friendly salesclerk and a goddess all rolled into one.
