Profession: Actress
Anne Heche could pass for the girl next door, particularly the girl next door in a David Lynch flick. At times she comes across as all wide-eyed and innocent, then turns around and gives us a taste of her wilder side. That dual persona has been played out in the media, where she has been portrayed as kind of kooky, yet still recognized as an acting talent. Anne Heche is probably best known for her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, and the explanation she gave Barbara Walters for her strange behavior following their breakup. But she's also an award-winning actress, and has been picking up prizes since her daytime Emmy win for Another World in 1991. Heche was selected as Best Supporting Actress by the National Board of Review in 1997 for her performances in Donnie Brasco and Wag The Dog. She has recently turned to directing, garnering the Lucy Award for Women in Film in 2000, and she received an Amnesty International Award for Leadership in the Struggle For Human Rights. Not bad for someone who started out in soaps.
