After many a high school theatrical production, Anne Hathaway was accepted for study at the prestigious Barrow Group in New York City. As a singer she performed, in 1998, at Carnegie Hall with the All-Eastern U.S. High School Honors Chorus. Shortly afterward, she was cast in the television series Get Real, followed by two films released in 2001: The Other Side of Heaven and The Princess Diaries, co-starring screen and stage legend Julie Andrews. The latter won her nominations at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards. She didn't go home with the trophies, but she did win the Clarence Derwent Award for her contribution to a stage production of Carnival.
