Profession: Actress
Born in Rome, Anna Galiena trained in New York where she studied with Caroline Ducrocq, Michael Moriarty and Sandra Seacat. In 1978 she made her stage debut in New York as Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. She also portrayed Nina in The Seagull by Chekhov in 1980 and, during that same year, joined the Actors Studio. Galiena continued to work in the United States until 1984: in Richard III with the American Shakespeare Company; Zio Vania with Michael Moriarty at the Public Theatre of New York and was cast in The Chain directed by Elia Kazan; as well as in a series of comedies and musicals by contemporary American authors. In 1992 she performed with the Teatro Stabile of Genoa for the prestigious Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto in Verso la fine dell'estate directed by Piero Maccarinelli. She also made two films that year, Il grande cocomero directed by Francesca Archibugi; and Being Human, shot in Scotland and directed by Bill Forsyth with Robin Williams.
